Business Practices

I charge $125.00 per hour if I bill insurance.  Self-pay rates start at $105.00 per hour. And while most of the people I see use their insurance, I also accept checks and cash.  I do not accept Medicare or Medicaid.

Some larger employers provide an “EAP” benefit for their employees.  “EAP” stands for Employee Assistance Program.  Essentially, the employer will provide/pay for a limited number of the employee’s counseling sessions; typically 3-8 sessions.  Talk with your Human Resources department where you work or call your insurance company to see if you have this benefit.  If your employer has this benefit and you wish to use it, often you are directed to call a particular phone number, provide some basic information (i.e., the name of the counselor you are wanting to see) and they will send me a packet of paperwork, which I will fill out on your behalf.  If you have this benefit and wish to use it before using your insurance, I suggest you explore this before you come in for your first session.

If you would like to use insurance, please bring your card at the time of the first session.  I will make a copy of your card.  As a regular course of business, I will contact your insurance carrier and confirm your benefits and get billing information.

Payment is expected at the time of service.  If I am billing insurance for you, co-payments are expected at the time of the session.  If your insurance plan has a deductible, and it is not met, full payment is expected at the time of each session until this deductible is met.

All of this is reviewed with the person at the time of the first appointment

Also, at the time of your first appointment, my privacy practices, an informed consent to treat and other financial agreements/expectations are viewed.  Copies of such are made available.
